Oklahoma City – Fleet Management Evaluation
MSW Consultants president Walt Davenport assisted in the performance of a complete review of the City’s solid waste vehicle fleet maintenance program. This project included fleet performance benchmarking and an evaluation of purchasing policies and interdepartmental communication. Many municipal fleet services providers face challenges in maintaining a solid waste fleet in conjunction with other City services. In Oklahoma City, this review lead to the issuance of a solicitation to privatize the fleet maintenance function to improve preventive maintenance program and fleet availability. The City subsequently purchased new hybrid automated/manual collection trucks (automated truck with a side hopper for manual loading capability) and implemented the bulky waste system change.
